Law Practice Management Tip - June 2005

All management tips are provided by State Bar of Texas and ABA Practice Management Advisors. The tips are not meant as legal advice, nor binding on the State Bar of Texas or the ABA.

Did you know that when typing up an email, it's a good idea to type your message into the message box before you enter the email address? The reason for this is because you decrease the chance of sending the message to the wrong person and sending the message prematurely. Many email programs automatically fill in the "Send to" box after you've entered the first few letters of the name (provided that it is someone that you email regularly), and many of us often assume that the appropriate address is what the program is filling in. Of course, if there are two or more individuals in your address book with the same first name, there is a very good chance that the email address that is filled in is not the address you intend to send the message to.
